As it is well known that every thing has it's pros and cons. Till date India ranks in the category of developing nation. It shows the hard work of each and every citizens of India . Not every states are doing so and Bihar is one of them. Today's subject is quite serious, Bihar is a state having a huge growth gap and has to fulfill it very soon. Today I will tell you seven reasons why Bihar is so backward state. By comparing the per capital income of all states and UTs, Bihar's was the least. Around 31,000 p.a is the salary of a person. Why this is so!
Lot many states pushes up the development and GDP of a country where as some tries to pull it down and Bihar is one of them. What is the reason behind this? Why we percieve 'bihari' as a non parliamentary language? People talk about the foreigner that they discriminate Indians in every field but here Indians are doing same thing with there own people. You can't get the fruits untill roots are not well.
First reason is - Geographical disadvantage,
Bihar is a land locked state and due to this Bihar don't have the advantage of international trade. If it is in coastal region like Gujrat and Maharashtra where in, there are huge international business through seas, ports and southern states like Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh have the major advantage of international trade. Bihar is totally land locked state, this doesn't allow to have the privilege of global access.
Second is, there is no major industries in Bihar, except the company like Hindustan Unilever want to invest here. Trucks and trains come here only to deliver stuffs but goes empty from here, there is no trade from Bihar. It is only consuming the products, not trading to earn money. Earlier the industries like sugar mills and fertiliser plants was there but due to damage in ecosystem, they moved away. The major loss it had faced when Bihar decentralised from Jharkhand. Mineral rich companies, huge corporate and all mining companies shifted to Jharkhand. One by one Bokaro, Tata nager - Jamshedpur all slipped from hand.
Third point is - Fright equalisation policy, this comes in the year 1950 to 1990. According to this policy, the minerals which were extracted from mines are shifted to other states and the central government had given the subsidiary on transport, so that Bihar was only focussing on transport while big companies are making profit. Bihar was the mineral rich state and was only given the subsidiary on transport. People of Bihar had no idea ahout marketing to setup their companies here.
Forth point is - Frog in the pond thinks it's an ocean, so the people of Bihar gives all priority to civil services like IAS, IPS. So that they will earn from both sided i.e above the table and under the table, this is a culture has been created. He/She has the government job, elctric bill don't have to pay and the government job is life sustaning. By going through the lines of a news paper, I found, dowry rate list has been declared - IAS officer - 1 - 3 crore, IPS officer - 80 lakh - 2 crore, IRS/IFS officer - 50 - 60 lakhs, ENG./PSU/PCS officer 40 - 50 lakh, bank PO/station master- 15 - 20 lakhs, government peon - 5 lakhs. What disgusting it is! Every one is dying behind dowry. For bihari's government job is everything. During marriage time if a groom don't have a house to live, tastes alcohol and if he is a government employee, then the bride's family will agree for marriage.
Fifth point is - Bihar is famous for caste politics, it means there is more caste politics in comparison to development politics. After 1991 when government removed the barriers on trade, every states was thinking and worried about international funding, foreign investment, to make best use of libralisation, then Bihar was still stucked in caste politics. The caste system is sucking Bihar day by day. There were no growth politics, no development politics. I don't want to hurt anyone, but it is true. This is because Bihar remains as unstable government. In 70 years the government changed 40 times and about 23 times new chief ministers had ruled. Chief Ministers didn't got more than average 1.5 years. Bihari's have to say no to caste politics, if they make profit then they will only enjoy i.e is known as inclusive growth.
Sixth is, population rate growth and literacy rate, population growth rate and literacy growth rate are not matching. Literacy rate is decreasing but fertility rate is increasing rapidly, this leads to high population but low education. The literacy rate of Bihar is 63% only, which is the least.
Seventh is - Education and Employability is directly proportionate to earnings, it means population affect education and education increases employment. In Bihar there is minimum education level and maximum unemployment level. In 1950 - 51 Bihar's per capita income was Rs 204 but India's are Rs 265, in 2013-14 Bihar's have Rs 28000 and India's have Rs 75000. Bihar always lag behind in every field. We are very familiar with Anil Agarwal, founder and chairman of Vedanta Resource Plc. He ranks top 10 in most richest man in India and he is of Bihar, Ravindra Kumar founder of SIS security he isslso from Bihar. Bihari's have to change themselves and have to know the jobs other than government.
